For the first time ever
In her brief little life
We packed up the car
No son and no wife
Just my daughter and me
And two very big smiles
I-10 going west
Roughly 150 miles

First stop was in Houma
Deep down in L-A
For Cajun dinner and golf
Twas gonna be a great day
No, I was not playing
I have become Coach Ben
Teaching lots of young golfers
How to have fun and to win
I had eight of my all stars
Their parents in tow
To Boudreaux and Thibodeau’s
Boy, what a show

Gator and crab
And sweet Royal Reds
Fruity drinks for the mommies
Cold beer for the dads

The kids went bananas
So did sweet Charli Win
Eating fried alligator
Again and again
The girl loves a hotel
She jumped on the bed
After a seventeen hour day
Her daddy was dead
Breakfast tacos, ooh tasty
A great start to the day
Then off to the golf course
To watch my kids play
They did awesome, fantastic
I could not ask for more
Eight kids just a playing
I was proud to my core

There was lightning and thunder
And crazy heavy rain
Eight hours of off and on golf
Was a little insane

They finished in sixth place
And had boatloads of fun
Time to head out
But the Bostics were not done
I promised my baby
Treats on the way back
A stop in New Orleans
I ain’t mad at that
A nice stroll in Mid-City
Just me and my girl
Chili glazed brussel sprouts
Let’s give it a whirl
Spicy chicken, gelato
Cannolis and more
120 years in business
A line out the door

From sunup to late night
We got back to the coast
Those smiles still on our faces
Are what I loved the most

Two days down in the bayou
Not a care in the world
The first of surely many trips
For a dad and his baby girl
